Spanish referees will be heading to the World Championship Games this summer. FIBA has designated Juan Carlos Arteaga and José Antonio Martín Beltrán for the Men´s World Championship Games in Japan, while Antonio Conde will travel to Brazil for the Women´s World Championship Games.
Juan Carlos Arteaga and José Antonio Martín Beltrán will make their World Championship debut this summer (in Japan, on August 19th- September 3rd), according to the recently published FIBA designations. Arteaga, 42 years old and from The Canary Islands has more than 500 games in the ACB league under his belt. He was already present in Belgrade in 2005 for the Euopean Championship Games. He will now officiate Phase One games for Group C in Hamamatsu with teams participating from Lithuania, Greece, Australia, Turkey, Brazil and Qatar. Martín Beltrán, 41 years old and from Catalonia, also has a lot of national and international experience. He has been slotted for Group D games in Sapporo with teams from the U.S., Italy, Slovenia, Puerto Rico and Senegal. Beforehand Martín Beltrán is to accompany Pepu Hernández´s selected team and participate in the International Tournament in Singapore (on August 10th-12th).
For his part, Antonio Conde Ruiz, 32 years old and from Cordoba, will be present in the Women´s World Championship which will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 12th-23rd.
