BUENOS AIRES (Liga Nacional) - River Plate were eliminated from the Argentinian Liga Nacional's Reclassification Stage after losing their series 3-1 against Ciclista.

Ciclista won the crucial fourth encounter 77-72 thanks in part to an 18-point haul from Derrick Bryant. River were paced by Julio Mazzaro, who scored a game-high 26 points, but even his efforts were not enough to send the series to a winner-takes-all fifth match. Juan Cangelosi, who claimed 10 rebounds for Ciclista, was delighted to end the series early.

"We hoped to win one of the previous two games, but we won both. After winning last Wednesday when the game seemed lost, our desire was increased. We want more," he said.

River's misery was compounded by the fact that their bitter rivals Boca Juniors progressed through with a 3-1 series win over Quilmes. The triumph was sealed following an exiting clash in Mar del Plata city which Boca won 96-85 after double overtime.
Boca star Paolo Quinteros, who is contending for a place at the FIBA World Championship, led the way for his side with 37 points and 11 assists. For Quilmes, Pablo Gil netted 21 points while former Boca player Byron Wilson contributed 20 points in a losing effort.

Boca, Ciclista Juninense and Central Entrerriano are the three teams already qualified for the Liga Nacional's play-offs. The fourth position will be taken by either Regatas or Penarol, with Regatas leading their series 2-1.
