LAS PAREJAS (FIBA World Championship) - Former Argentinean national team guard, Marcelo Milanesio, will join the technical staff of the national team of Argentina as a consultant.

Milanesio, who was the leader in assists in the 1994 FIBA World Championship in Canada, was recruited by the head coach, Sergio Hernández.

"I am very happy; I was surprised by them asking me to join the team. Sergio (Hernandez) called me to join the technical staff as a consultant and I liked it. I have been away for a long time and this is like reviving the passion for this sport that has given me so much. Being a part of this team fills me with joy," said Milanesio to CABB.com.ar.

The seven time champion in Argentina with Atenas de Cordoba has already seen some practices and warm up games. On Wednesday he is going to be in Buenos Aires and on Thursday takes off for Spain where the national team will continue their warm ups.

"We added him as a consultant of the technical staff; he won't be in the staff as a coach, only as a former player of the national team. We have to take advantage of his experience as an international player and his way of seeing the game. He is also a tool for the players in case they need to do individual drills," said head coach, Sergio Hernández.

During his career Milanesio played in four FIBA World Championships (1986, 1990, 1994 and 1998) and in the 1996 Olympic Games.
