MAR DEL PLATA (Liga Nacional) - Former Argentina center Diego Maggi has been appointed the new manager of Quilmes.
The 43-year-old enjoyed spells with Ferro, Sport Club, Penarol and Estudiantes during his playing career and won five Liga Nacional titles, as well as playing for the national team over a 14-year period.
This is his first managerial position, and Maggi said: "This is a new role for me and I am trying to carry out my duties with the team.
"I am doing some research with the Liga Nacional to find out what the club's needs are. I'm very happy to be in the basketball arena again, of course this time from the other side of the court.
"I have 20 years of experience in the domestic tournament and I think it is the right time to take on this responsibility.
"This is a great challenge for me and a role that must be adopted more in national basketball as not everything can be decided by just the coach or the board.
"This is the happy medium between the two," he added.
