BANGKOK (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Argentina went ahead early and seemed to have consolidated their position before having to ward of a strong third quarter Korean rally for a 73-63 win in Group A on Friday.

Argentina, who lost to Australia on Thursday, thus scored their first win. Korea's chances of making the second round look rather remote having suffered their second loss. Korea play the mighty Australian U19 Gems on Saturday.

Ahn Hyojin scored 11 of her team-high 16 points - including three of her four three-pointers for the game - in the third quarter as Korea put up a serious threat.

But Argentina found their saviour in Nadia Flores who shrugged off an indifferent first three quarters scoring six of her 11 points and Argentina doused Korea's hopes.

Nayla Kraft had controlled Argentina's scoring in the first three quarters and finished with a game-high 18 points. Ornella Santana contributed 11 points for Argentina.

Heo Gibbeum scored 14 points and Park Hyereon 13 for Korea.
