SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO (Liga Sudamericana) - Flamengo bounced back from their opening day setback to Defensor Sporting and beat Malvin on Wednesday while Group C hosts Quimsa prevailed for the second time in a row in the Liga Sudamericana.

Defending champions Flamengo trailed 37-34 at half-time but turned on the style after the intermission and routed Malvin, 95-73.

Flamengo outscored their opponents from Uruguay 30-19 in the third quarter to seize an eight-point advantage and then cruised to a decisive win.

Marcelinho Machado had 28 points, Helio Lima 24 and Machado's brother Duda 22 in the triumph for Flamengo.

Flamengo will now look to beat Quimsa, who remained unbeaten with a 68-62 come-from-behind victory over Defensor Sporting.

Trailing at the beginning of the last quarter, Quimsa outscored Defensor 24-13 over the final 10 minutes for a 68-62 win.

The game hung in the balance with two minutes to go. That's when Quimsa got three-pointers from Julio Mazzaro and Jonathan Treise in a 9-3 run to seal the win.

Argentina international Roman Gonzalez poured in 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Quimsa.

Robby Collum had 20 points in defeat for Defensor.

On day three, if Flamengo beat Quimsa and Defensor win their all-Uruguayan clash with Malvin, then Flamengo, Quimsa and Defensor will be in a three-way tie and first place will be determined by goal differential in the games between the sides.

Should Quimsa defeat Flamengo, they will advance as the top team with three wins and no losses.

A Malvin victory over Defensor followed by a Flamengo success against Quimsa would put the Brazilian team through to the Final Round.

The side that finishes runner-up will still have a chance to advance as the best second-place team from the three groups.

Sionista and Libertad Sunchales have already advanced to the Final Round as winners of Groups A and B, respectively.
