BANGKOK (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Argentina scored a psychologically important 70-46 vwin against fellow South Americans Brazil in a Group E eight-final round game on Tuesday.

The win pushed Eduardo Pinto's girls to a 3-2 win-loss record. Brazil are 2-3.

Fabiana de Souza opened the scoring for the game with a three-pointer and that was only time Brazil led in the game.

Ornella Santana replied in kind almost immediately and Agostina Burani scored on the paint and Argentina never trailed after that.

Santana accounted for 15 points, and pulled down eight rebounds as Debora Gonzalez' 19 points led the scoring for the game.

Burani and Nayla Kraft both scored 11 points each.

Brazil, for whom no player scored in double digit, now face the mammoth task of beating Australia on the morrow to keep their hopes alive.
