MAR DEL PLATA (Liga Nacional) - Boca Juniors moved to within one game of the Liga Nacional title after defeating Penarol on Sunday to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven final series.
The visitors trailed by a point going into the last quarter, but dominated the closing stages to run out 66-58 winners.
"It was a very hard game. We tried not to make any fast decisions, any fast shots and took care of the ball. They displayed a real aggressive defense, but at the end we defended better," said Boca's Gustavo Orona.
Raymundo Legaria top-scored with 17 points, converting four-of-five two point attempts and two-of-three three pointers.
Gustavo Orona and Leonardo Gutierrez chipped in with 10 and 15 points respectively, while the latter also hauled down 10 rebounds.
Joshua Pittman poured in 18 points in Penarol's losing cause, but will be disappointed at only converting five of his 10 two-point efforts and one-of-five from outside the arc.
Boca will have the chance to win the championship on Tuesday when they host Penarol at the "Bombonerita".
