BUENOS AIRES (FIBA World Championship for women) - Argentina's preparations for the FIBA World Championship for Women are well underway with coach Eduardo Pinto currently in training with 16 locally-based players.
The Argentinians who play abroad are expected back in South America soon.
Pinto and his squad are working out at the CeNARD's sport complex in Buenos Aires and will be there until Monday.
Those called up were Celeste Cabanez, Marina Cava, Melisa Cejas, Erica Escudero, Alejandra Fernandez, Florencia Fernandez, Paula Gatti, Gimena Landra, Cecilia Lineira, Laura Nicolini, Analia Palacios, Florencia Palacios, Marcela Paoletta, Sandra Pavon, Cecilia Peters and Veronica Soberon.
Pinto is putting the players through their paces on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, two sessions per day.
Argentina are in Group A at the FIBA World Championship for Women in September along with hosts Brazil, Spain and South Korea.
The U-18 Argentinian women's national side will also work out at CeNARD from April 24-27.
That team is preparing for the FIBA Americas Championship in Colorado Springs, USA, a tournament to be staged from June 28 to July 2.
Argentina's U-18 women are hoping to qualify for the 2007 Youth FIBA World Championship in Slovakia.
