ARG - 21 selected ahead of Argentina U19 tryouts

BUENOS AIRES (FIBA U19 World Championship) - With this summer's highly anticipated U19 World Champs only weeks away, Argentina have summoned a squad of 21 players for a training camp/tryouts, to begin on 5 May in Buenos Aires.

The squad includes 11 of the 12 members of the team that finished in fourth place at last year's FIBA Americas U18 Championship in San Antonio, USA securing the fourth and final Americas Zone ticket to Latvia, including promising point guard Juan Jose Giaveno.

Also in the loop, and among the younger members of this preliminary squad, are five players who participated in last year's FIBA U17 World Championship in Hamburg, Germany.

These include Tayavek Gallizzi, Patricio Garino, Federico Herrera, hotly tipped centre Luciano Massarelli and Italian based Matias Bortolin (Rimini).

The only other member currently playing his basketball abroad is Patricio Garino Gullota (Montverde Academy, USA).

Argentina have been drawn in Group B, which will be based in the city of Valmiera, and will face Australia, Chinese Taipei and hosts Latvia.
