Antananarivo set to host FIBA Africa U16 Championships for Women

ANTANANARIVO (2015 FIBA Africa U16 Championship for Women) - The draw has been held for the fourth edition of FIBA Africa U16 Championship for Women.
The ceremony was held on Thursday night at the Palais des Sports Mahamasina in Madagascar’s capital city of Antananarivo.
On Saturday, 11 July, Tunisia will square off Angola in the first game of the tournament.
A couple of hours later, Egypt will open their campaign against debutants Nigeria.
Hosts Madagascar, who are also making their bow in the event, will face Morocco just after the opening ceremony which is set for the same day at 1 pm.
Mali, who have won the first three editions of this youth championship, will take on Mozambique.
The 10 countries are divided into two groups of 5 teams each:
Group A: 1. Madagascar; 2. Morocco; 3-Egypt; 4. Zimbabwe; 5. Nigeria.
Group B: 1. Mali; 2. Mozambique; 3. Angola; 4. Rwanda; 5. Tunisia.
The first phase of the tournament will be played in a round robin format, with every team taking on its opponents in its respective group.
The top four teams from each group will qualify for the Quarter-Finals, with Group A crossing Group B (A1-B4; A2-B3; A3-B2; A4-B1).
The second phase of the tournament will be played in a knockout format from the Quarter-finals to the Finals.
Mali are the defending champions Egypt are three-times in row runners-up.
The 2015 FIBA Africa U16 Championship for Women will serve as qualifier for the 2016 FIBA Women's U17 World Championship.
The winner and the team that finish second will represent Africa at next year's event.
