    Angolan teams dominate Zone 6 Qualifiers for FIBA AfroLeague 2019

    BULAWAYO(FIBA AfroLeague 2019) - With an impressive 6-0 mark, Angolan champions Primeiro de Agosto over the weekend won the FIBA Africa Zone 6 Qualifiers for the upcoming FIBA AfroLeague.

    BULAWAYO(FIBA AfroLeague 2019) - With an impressive 6-0 mark, Angolan champions Primeiro de Agosto over the weekend won the FIBA Africa Zone 6 Qualifiers for the upcoming FIBA AfroLeague in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. 

    After beating their Southern African rivals from Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, D'Agosto on Sunday defeated archrival Petro de Luanda 90-77 to advance to the Final Round of the FIBA AfroLeague which will take place in January 2019.

    They will be joined in the Final Round by Petro Luanda who claimed a 5-1 record thanks to wins over Mozambique representatives Ferroviario de Maputo and Ferroviario da Beira, Malawi outfits Bravehearts and Central Knight before getting the better of Zimbabwe sides City Hornets and Foxes.

    By finishing first and second in the regional Qualifiers, both D'Agosto and Petro de Luanda return to a competition they missed out last year.

    These two continental heavyweights are joined by Ferroviario de Beira of Mozambique who secured the Third-Place finish.

    Petro de Luanda won the 2015 edition of FIBA Africa's flagship clubs competition

    In their history, D'Agosto remain as Africa's most successful basketball club on the continent of Africa with eight titles, while Petro de Luanda have won it on two occasions (2006 and 2015).

    The Angolan sides became the latest sides to qualify for the rebranded competition, joining Zone 5 Qualifiers winners Al Ahly of Egypt.
