    Luanda - The role played by Angola and President Jose Eduardo dos Santos for the development of basketball in the African continent and for sports in general was highlighted and praised by FIBA/Africa in Abidjan, Cote d`Ivoire, ANGOP has learnt.

    According to a press note from the Angolan Embassy in that country, the recognition was expressed during the ceremony of the draw for the 22nd African Senior Males Basketball Cup, scheduled for December 13-22, in Huambo, Cabinda and Luanda cities.

    At the Abidjan Novohotel were attending the ceremony the FIBA-Africa chairman, Alain Ekra, the secretary-general,Alphonse Bille, and the local minister of Sports and Leisure, Banzio Dagobert.

    Alain Ekra highlighted the brilliant way this sport has been developed in Angola, having, for that, congratulated the Angolan government, and especially President Jose Eduardo dos Santos for his dedication to basketball and sports in general.

    At the ceremony, the Angolan Embassy was represented by its first secretary, Jose Bravo, and the press attaché, Jorge da Conceição.
