At the ceremony, which happened before the national championship game between Petro Atletico de Luanda and 1º de Agosto, were distinguished with medals more than 30 players, among them Angelo Victoriano, the athlete who has won more titles with the national team.

Angelo Victoriano, former 1º de Agosto player, participated in the eight African championships won by Angola so far.

Other athletes are Jean Jacques da Conceicao (eight titles), Victor de Carvalho and David Dias (six titles each), Anibal Moreira, Edmar Victoriano "Baduna", Herlander Coimbra (05), Miguel Lutonda, Kikas Gomes, Carlos Almeida (04), Benjamin Avo, Victor Muzadi, Gerson Monteiro, Nelson Sardinha and Paulo Macedo (03), among others.

The coaches are Mario Palma (04), Victorino Cunha and Raul Duarte (03) and the late Wlademiro Romero.

This homage is due to the fact that the country commemorated for the first time the National Basketball Day, on May 18.

On May 18, 1930, happened the first basketball game in Angola, which was between Sporting and Academica, according to a research.
