LUANDA (AfroBasket/FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Angola's Carlos Morais has signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors and will attend the NBA club's training camp.

The NBA's long Canadian franchise have announced the news in a statement.

An explosive guard who has been a lynchpin in the national team since AfroBasket 2005, Morais will travel to Canada with his confidence soaring.

Last month in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, the 1.92m guard averaged 15.9 points per contest as Angola won their 11th African championship since 1992. To top things off, Morais was named the tournament's MVP and headlined the All-Tournament Team.

The team qualified for the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain with their strong showing.

The Raptors are intrigued by Morais' athleticism.

At the AfroBasket, one of the most thrilling plays of the tournament, a windmill dunk on a fast break against Mozambique, was turned in by Morais.

He will now fight for a spot on the Raptors' regular-season roster.

Despite Angola's dominance of the sport in Africa, the country has yet to have a player make an NBA regular-season roster.
