MONTEVIDEO (FIBA AmeriCup 2017) - Everything's underway at Montevideo to host Group C of the AmeriCup Group Phase, which will take place from August 28 to August 30 and will feature the United States, Dominican Republic, Panama and Uruguay teams.
The event’s venue is Peñarol Palace, which went under important modifications thanks to the Uruguayan Federation.
The court’s floor was polished and coated in plastic to change its color and give a whole new look to the site. The substitutes’ bench was moved to another position, facing the TV cameras, such as it is customary during FIBA tournaments.
The lower part of the auditorium was exclusively reserved for the press. Around 120 individual seats with internet connection were readied for the media that will cover the event.
A big screen was also set up in the area where there used to be a stage for the different performances that took place in the venue.
However, the most significant tasks were done in the locker rooms. These were expanded and conditioned for the demands of an event of this scale. A total of 5 new locker rooms were built in 52 days.
