"We face a great opportunity to carry out a renovation process that is worthy of Brazilian basketball. The expectation is that the Brazilian team always plays with great intensity without losing our organization, always leaving everything we have on the court," said the new Head Coach of Brazil Cesar Guidetti.
"This is the time for renewal and construction so that a new generation can begin to prepare to replace the current one, which has great players, with internationally recognized value," said the President of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation Guy Peixoto Jr.
Guidetti’s first challenge as Head Coach will be the FIBA AmeriCup 2017, from August 25 – September 3, where Brazil will be part of Group A in Medellin, Colombia, along with the National Teams from Mexico, Puerto Rico and Colombia.
The Brazilians will need to win the group to advance to the Semi-Finals of the competition in Cordoba, Argentina.
"This new project contemplates several phases, which will allow a new generation of players to gain international experience, work side by side with more experienced players in certain tournaments, events and prepare properly for the Qualifiers to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019, that start in November 2017,” concluded the Peixoto Jr.
