    The Quarter-Finals are set!

    MEXICO CITY (FIBA U18 Americas Women’s Championship 2018) – The Quarter-Finals picture of the FIBA U18 Americas Women’s Championship 2018 is complete, following the conclusion of the Group Phase.

    MEXICO CITY (FIBA U18 Americas Women’s Championship 2018) – The Quarter-Finals picture of the FIBA U18 Americas Women’s Championship 2018 is complete, following the conclusion of the Group Phase.

     Argentina finished the Group Phase of the FIBA U18 Americas Women’s Championship with a 2-1 record after defeating Chile 82-56. The team coached by Leandro Costa dominated from the get-go with complete dominance and a variant offensive where every player added points to the scoreboard. The Argentine dominated the boards 59-31 and summed 18 assists. Camila Suarez was the top scorer for Argentina with 12 points.

     Colombia added its second win in Group B after dominating El Salvador 80-48. The South American team established a quick lead on the scoreboard after a 21-12 first quarter and never looked back. Colombia went-on to win the remaining quarters to celebrate the win. Once again, Mayra Caicedo was the leading voice for the Colombians with 22 points, 5 assists and 6 steals. Fabiola Garcia led the offensive for El Salvador with 12 points.

     USA claimed the top spot of Group A with a 3-0 record after a 103-59 win over Puerto Rico. The Boricuas had a better start, when the USA adjusted to a full-court press defense they came out with steals and easy baskets to take the lead on the scoreboard. USA maintained the high energy to take a 17-point lead into half-time. USA kept adding and headed to the perfect finish at Group A play. Nalyssa Smith was the top scorer for the USA with 24 points.

     Canada finished the Group Phase with the top position of Group B after defeating Mexico 65-54. Canada escaped to an early lead in the first quarter with a brilliant Roxane Makolo. Canada kept producing and extended the team’s lead to 15 points at the end of the first half. Mexico’s fierceness appeared on the third quarter and they went on to win the third quarter 18-14, to cut the difference to 11 points. Canada’s height advantage helped them win the rebound battle and that created 22 second chance points. Mexico kept fighting, but Canada stayed on course and captured the win. Roxane Makolo led the Canadian team with 13 points.

     At the Quarter-Finals of the FIBA U18 Americas Women’s Championship 2018:
    USA vs El Salvador
    Chile vs Canada
    Puerto Rico vs Colombia
    Argentina vs Mexico

    The winners of the Quarter-Finals will qualify to the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2019.

    The Semi-Finals of the FIBA U18 Americas Women’s Championship 2018 will be played on August 6 and the Final on August 7
