SAN JUAN (FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018) – The Head Coach of the Puerto Rican U18 National Team, Omar Gonzalez, announced today the 15-players that remain in the team’s preliminary list for the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018, to be played June 10-16 in St. Catharines, Canada.

"For the FIBA U18 Americas Championship we want to have a competitive team, that has projection for the future. That is why we chose these players, because it is a high caliber tournament, it is a continental championship. However, we will need several more training sessions before making the final cut," said González.
Puerto Rico was drawn into Group A of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship and will begin the continental competition against Panama. The Boricuas will then face the Dominican Republic and USA to close-out the Group Phase of the competition.
Group B of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship features Chile, Ecuador, Argentina and the host Canada.
All the teams will advance to the Quarter-Finals of the competition on June 14th. The winners of the Quarter-Finals will advance to the Semi-Finals on June 15th and will earn a ticket to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019. The FIBA U18 Americas Championship will be played on June 16.
