ANTANANARIVO (Madagascar) - The FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2025 will consume the continent as the best teams in the region fight for supremacy. Here is all the info ahead of the seventh edition of the most prestigious 3x3 event in Africa. Where can I watch? The action runs from December 5-7 and you can follow it live on the FIBA 3x3 YouTube page Who is competing? There is an expanded draw for this edition with 24 teams – 14 in the men's and 10 in the women's – journeying to Madagascar. Who are the favorites?
In the men's, we just have to start with Madagascar, who have proven to be the host with the most. Willed on by their passionate fans, Madagascar went all the way last year to claim their second title in three years.
Madagascar's quest for back-to-back won't be easy and they will be tested straight away in Pool D against Rwanda in a rematch of last year's final.
Egypt have also long been an African powerhouse as testament to their title-winning runs in 2019 and 2023.
In the women's, just like their male counterparts, Madagascar enter as the defending champs having been ignited by their rowdy fans last year.
Their likely biggest challenger will be Egypt, who they took down last year in an unforgettable final. Egypt are perennial challengers having incredibly made four straight finals.
No.3 seed Kenya are also formidable having medalled the past two editions, including lifting the trophy in 2023, while No.1 seed Uganda will be aiming to live up to top billing.
Who are the players to watch?
Anthony Rasolomanana was part of Madagascar's triumph last year and he doesn't want the winning feeling to ever go away. He will need to be at his absolute best because Oliver Turatsinze was on fire last year as he ignited Rwanda to finish on the Team of the Tournament.
Ahmed Mohamed has been a key plank of Egypt's success over the years, something like the heart and soul of his team who are striving for another title.
Sydonie Andriamihajanirina is a wonder woman for Madagascar and she's done it all before having been part of the home side's stunning success last year.
She will need her A-Game because Radwa Sherif has also enjoyed the winning sheen for Egypt and this walking bucket can heat up at a moment's notice. Real ones well know that Christine Akinyi is an OG for powerhouse Kenya as she proved last year when she finished on the Team of the Tournament. Akinyi will be out for the crown and you would be foolish to doubt her.
