MIES (Switzerland) - The tenth edition of the Basketball Champions League, officially called Season X, powered by Ameresco SUNEL is about to start.
To celebrate the 10 seasons of the BCL, we came up with a concept of 10 sentences with 10 words each in our season trailer to get you hyped up for the new campaign.
Competition format reminder
The competition format remains the same, again. There are 32 teams across eight groups of four. The group winners move straight to the Round of 16, while the second and third-placed teams enter the best-of-three Play-Ins in January.
The fourth placed teams from the Regular Season will be eliminated.
In the Round of 16, there will be four groups with four teams, top two advancing to the best-of-three Quarter-Finals. The season will conclude with the Final Four, set to be played in early May.
There were 29 direct tickets to the Regular Season, while three were up for grabs in the Qualification Round Tournaments in Samokov, Bulgaria.
Powered by Ameresco SUNEL
This season marks a new era for the Basketball Champions League, as the competition now has a presenting partner in Ameresco SUNEL.
The collaboration with SUNEL was a successful one at the 2025 Final Four in Athens, paving the way to another step in the partnership in 2025-26.

Group previews
With the aforementioned competition format, one has to keep an eye on the proceedings in their neighboring group.
Teams from Group A will play teams from Group B in the Play-Ins, teams from Group C go up against teams from Group D, Group E crosses paths with Group F, while Groups G and H have their own part of the Play-Ins bracket, too.
That's why we opted for two group previews at a time, all available with clicks on these illustrations.
Player Power Rankings
The BCL features a number of deep dives from our columnists. A tradition before each season, Diccon Lloyd-Smeath divides the Player Power Rankings in two must-read pieces.
Top newcomers
As always, we're excited to see new names embarking on their international basketball journey.
This time around, newcomers from ALBA BERLIN, ERA Nymburk, Filou Oostende, Promitheas Patras BC Vikos Cola and Tofas Bursa.
Numbers, records, top scorers
Throughout our history, we paid special attention to all the record breakers. These two links will get you up to speed with the current marks in points, rebounds, assists and all other relevant stats, not just for the players, but for teams, also.
Before the season started, we took a trip down memory lane to find the top scorers for each season. The list features some impressive names, led by Bonzie Colson and Kevin Punter.
