Algeria welcomes 3x3 family for African Youth Games

ALGIERS (African Youth Games 2018) - Nine teams representing five nations have assembled in the Algerian capital to take part in the 3x3 tournament at the third edition of the African Youth Games on July 20-22, 2018.
Just like the first two editions, 3x3 will be the only form of basketball at this youth continental competition.
Hosts Algeria, Egypt, Madagascar, Mali and Nigeria have presented two teams each that will compete in the boys and girls categories with players born between January 1, 2000 and December, 31, 2004.
The seeding has been done according to the FIBA 3x3 Federation ranking for the U18 categories.
Egypt, who are are the top seed in the men's category, will be hoping to take the crown in the absence of defending champions Angola.
Madagascar are seeded third ahead of Nigeria, Algeria and Mali following in that order.
Defending champions Egypt lead the pack in the women's category ahead of Madagascar and Tunisia - who have withdrawn from the event-, while Nigeria, Algeria and Mali follow respectively.
In the men's category, Nigeria will open their title campaign against hosts Algeria while Egypt will square off against Mali in the women category.
This tournament is expected to bring more limelight to 3x3 basketball on the African continent.
