While Luca Lunneman - a promising talent in South Africa ranks - is absent due to an injury and Tshilidzi Nephawe is unavailable, 21-year-old Miguel Ferrao is among the newcomers.

South Africa have been drawn in Group D against Senegal, Egypt and neighbors Mozambique.

This year's FIBA African Championship is to be co-hosted by Senegal and Tunisia from September 8-16.
