DAKAR (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - Adil El Makssoud may not be Morocco's most famous player, but he was huge in Saturday's historic win over Angola.

While John Wilkins, Sofiane Kourodu and Mustapha Khalfi had a night to forget, the 32-year-old came off the bench to make nine of his 14 points from behind the arc, and as a result, change of the course of Moroccan basketball history.

It was Morocco's first win over Angola in 37 years.

How did they do it? The man, who buried a three-pointer with a minute left to give Morocco a 59-50 lead, responds, but, first, watch these two videos that show how Angola prevailed over Morocco two years ago, and how the North Africans responded in Dakar on Saturday.

The 1.96m guard revealed that it wasn't difficult: "We watched Angola play against Uganda on Friday, we saw their struggles and we all agreed that we could beat them, and we did that," El Makssoud later told FIBA.basketball.

"We've played an aggressive defensive from start to finish. We have contested most of their shots, we pressured Angolan players on one-on-one plays, and as a result, we won. It's a great feeling to be in this position.

"Years ago, Angola used to beat us by 20-point margins or more. But two years ago, it was a tight game, we lost by one. This victory comes at the right time. I am proud of teammates and coaching staff."

And, the historic win continues to make waves across the social media platforms.

With the win, Morocco have qualified for the Quarter-Finals to be staged in Tunis next week.
