BC Virunga awarded wild card for West Division Elite 16
ABIDJAN - If successful in the Elite 16, BC Virunga would become the second DR Congo team - after Espoir Fukash - to qualify for the prestigious BAL.
ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - BC Virunga have secured the last berth for the West Division Elite 16 thanks to a wild card, FIBA Africa confirmed on Wednesday.
The West Division Elite 16 is scheduled for Yaounde, Cameroon from 31 October until 5 November.
Although the DR Congo champions lost to Forces Armees et Police (FAP) and Bangui Sporting Club, a 79-76 win over Espoir BBC on the last day of Group B played in Yaounde earlier this month, saw BC Virunga finish third in the group ahead of the Gabonese champions.
BC Virunga finished 1-2 in Group B of the first round of the Road to BAL 2024
BC Virunga will return to Yaounde to join seven other teams for a chance to secure one of the three tickets on offer for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Season 4.
