Gombe Bulls, Ghana Customs Braves rule Day 2 of FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017 Zone 3 Qualifiers

LAGOS (FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017) - Gombe Bulls basketball club of Nigeria defeated fellow Nigerian side Civil Defenders basketball club by 76-66 points in Day-2 opening game of the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Zone 3 Qualifiers at the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.

The Bulls won three of the four quarters (14-12, 21-15, 18-21, 23-18) with two of its guards, Kator Gar and Simon Owoicho providing solid offensive play. Both players recorded 20 points and 14 points in that order to guide their team to their first continental glory.

Defenders trio of Gideon Omokudu, Austin Eseoghene and Samson Bolarin posting double figures of 19, 16 and 12 points respectively in their losing cause.

Bulls head coach and Nigeria men's team assistant coach, Abdulrahman Muhammed told FIBA.basketball in a post game chat, that qualifying for the Final Round will be a dream come true for his team.

"We are not in Lagos for sight seeing but to compete and our main target is to qualify for the Final Round which will take place from December 11-20 in Tunisia".

In the second game of the day Customs Braves basketball club of Ghana shakes off a third quarter challenge pose by ASPAC basketball club of Benin to record a well deserved 75-61 win.

The Braves captain, Baniba Dodzi showed some bravery as he led the floor with 22 points while his teammate Daniel Aryee added 19 points.

Three ASPAC players led by Romaric Quenum, Gandjeto and Ayachoubou were in double figures - 17 points, 12 points and 11 points but failed to save their side from defeat.
