RADES (FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017) – Morocco's Association Sportive Sale have fulfilled their mission of reaching the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Final (ACC) for the very first time thanks to a 97-86 win over Angola champions Libolo.
Morocco international Abdelhakim Zouita came up with a game-high 29 points, Abderrahim Najah added 19, and both Soufiane Kourdou and Wayne Arnold contributed 17 points apiece to see off the 2014 ACC champions.
As result, the Moroccans will square off against tournament hosts Etoile Sportive Rades in Wednesday's Final.
In Tuesday's first Semi-Final, hosts Etoile Sportive Rades ended Union Sportive Monastir's unbeaten run following a 74-69 success.
They rallied by eight at halftime but Adel Tlatli's men used a strong third quarter to turn the course of the contest.
Tunisian International Mohamed Hadidane sparked the Rades-based team with a double-double effort of 15 points and 13 rebounds, and youthful point guard Omar Abada contributed 10 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds.
Talking to FIBA.basketball, Etoile Sportive Rades shooting guard Mourad El Mabrouk revealed to their success against a Monastir side that seemed prepared to cause an upset.
"We took our chances by creating open shots for each other, as teammates, it doesn't matter who scores. What is uppermost in our mind is to get the job done.
"And now that US Monastir is out of the way I think we deserve to be champion and we will keep such mentality going into the Final," he concluded.
