    Group Phase of U18 Women's African Championship done and dusted - Who was your MVP?

    The FIBA U18 African Women's Championship has produced some exceptionally talented players, who have been impactful for their countries.

     

    ANTSIRABE (Madagascar) The FIBA U18 African Women's Championship has produced some exceptionally talented players, who have been impactful for their countries. 

    Below is a look at five players who have been influential for their teams at the tournament.

    MAIMOUNA HAIDARA (Mali)

    Haidara is the attacking heartbeat of this Malian team. She has been a double-double machine for the West Africans since the start of the tournament. As Mali, who finished the group stages with a perfect record head to the knock-out stages, they will not peak to too soon and that their star player can maintain her strong displays.

    JANA ELALFY (Egypt)

    The Egyptian forward Elalfy notched double-double in all the group stage games. In the final against Angola, after she sat out the game because foul trouble, she struggled to settle in the third quarter. In the final quarter, when Egypt needed most she had a 14 point explosion to help carry the team to victory, She will be key to their title defence.

    ARMINDA SINDALAWA (Angola)

    The Angolan point guard Sindalawa, has scored in double figures for her team. Her energy and ability to take defences have made a stand out figure for the Angolans.

    If Angola are to go any further in this tournament, Sindalawa will need to be at her best at the offensive end and defensive end. She has had 14 steals in the tournament showing that she is player not afraid to take on defensive assignments.

    MARION RASOLOFOSON (Madagascar)

    The Madagascar shooting guard has been the attacking force for her team. In the her team's first two games she was a figure of consistency scoring 19 points against Uganda and 13 points against Algeria. She comfortable with the ball in her hands and is always the initiator of the teams offence.

    DOUA YAHIAOUI (Algeria)

    Yahiaoui has been a stand out figure for the Algerians, so far she had her best game against Uganda on Monday. She will be an important player for the North Africans going into the knock out stages.
