Seven-time champions Mali and hosts Tunisia remain undefeated as Rwanda suffered their second loss of the championship. Uganda opened their campaign on the wrong footing.
TUNISIA SUBJECT UGANDA TO DEFEAT
Hosts Tunisia continued their spectacular showing as they made it 2-0 with a 74-50 victory over Uganda who were opening their campaign.
Skipper Malak Chahidi picked up from where she left with another double-double with 20 points and a massive 16 rebounds, 13 on defense to push her side to victory.
Mariam Fahs scored 15 in 26 minutes to add to the Wissem Chrayet-coached side's tally.
Coach John Omondi's side had Shiphrah Kiranda doing a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds while Modesta Anyango added ten points and 8 rebounds in the side's loss.
It was a competitive first quarter but Chrayet's charges led 16-13 after the first ten minutes and kept their foot on the pedal in the second stanza despite a hard-fighting Uganda not going away.
After a 19-11 second quarter, Tunisia had a commanding 11-point lead that gave the North African some breathing space off of the locker rooms.
Tunisia had a massive third quarter, going 25-16 ahead to kill the game and play an easy 15-10 final quarter for the 14- point victory.
ANGOLA REDEEM THEMSELVES
After a humiliating opener where they went down 80-32 to defending champions Mali, Angola got back to winning ways with a 78-51 victory over Morocco on game day 2.
The Francisco Chauangue-led side came from behind, having trailed 14-13 in the first quarter, to reclaim the lead following a 17-10 second quarter performance and 24-14, 24-13 in the remaining stanzas for the victory.
Sabrina El Hilali who was Morocco's top performer as the side opened their campaign with a 53-42 win over Rwanda on day 1, top scored in the loss against Angola with 27 points.
Three Angolan players bagged a double led by Ana Servico who scored 25 while Margarida Solunga and Miraldina Buitchi added 16 and 19 respectively.
MALI CONTINUE DOMINANCE
The defending champions registered the second century of the competition to go 2-0 as they beat Rwanda 108-24.
The Moussa Sidibe-coached Mali are looking to defend the titles, a feat that would see them become 8-time champions.
EGYPT TROUNCE GUINEA
In Saturday's first game, 2021 runners-up Egypt opened their campaign a comprehensive win after humiliating Guinea 130-40.
