ANTSIRANANA (FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2016) - Malagasy side ASCUT on Sunday secured the only ticket on offer for FIBA Africa Champions Cup (ACC) Zone 7 clubs for next month’s Final Round of the ACC 2016 thanks to a 79-57 triumph over Vautour Basket.

The 12-team ACC 2016 will run from 7-16 December in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.

Lalason Ratsimbazafy led the proceedings for ASCUT with a game-high 22 points, Ahmed Ibrahim not only dominated the boards with a game-best 11 rebounds but he also added 13 added 13 points to help the Malagasy side reach the annual ACC for the second time in a row.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Salim, the only Vautour Basket man to score in double digits, finished with 20 points but the ASCUT held on to close the qualifier undefeated in four games.

Following his consistency throughout the qualifier, it came as no surprise that ASCUT’s forward Ahmed Ibrahim was named the tournament MVP.

Later this month, FIBA Africa Zone 1 teams AS Sale and Chabab RIF Al Hoceima (both from Morocco), Tunisian champions Club Africain, Groupement Sportif Petroliers (Algeria), and Libyan sides Al-Nasser and Alhali will be fighting in Hoceima, Morocco, for the two places on offer for the ACC 2016.

List of teams qualified for the FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2016 as of 13 November: Hosts Al Alhy (Egypt), City Oilers (Uganda), Kano Pillars, Customs (both from Nigeria), Primeiro D’Agosto and Recreativo do Libolo (both from Angola) and ASCUT (Madagascar).
