ZADAR (Adriatic League) - Zadar slumped to another defeat in the Adriatic League and FMP scraped a three-point victory at Red Star Belgrade in Week 23 action over the weekend.
Zadar had won 14 consecutive games but are now struggling with Saturday’s 87-83 loss at home to Helios (6-17) their third straight setback.
Aljaž Janža and Robert Troha scored 23 points apiece for Helios, who also got 20 from Aliaksei Lashkevich.
Zadar fell behind 26-17 by the end of the opening quarter but battled back and looked to be headed for a narrow win but a three-ball near the end of regulation from Jack Ingram tied the contest at 77-77.
Lashkevich then had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation but was off target with a jumper and the game went to overtime.
The biggest shot of the game was made by Troha, a three-ball late in the extra period to give Helios an 80-77 lead which put them in front for good.
In other action, Zoran Erceg had 31 points as FMP beat Red Star 98-95 and leapfrogged them into fifth place with both sides now possessing 13-10 records.
Partizan Belgrade improved to 20-2 by edging Buducnost in Podgorica 68-64.
Third-place Union Olimpija improved to 14-9 after an 87-72 victory at home over Split.
Fourth-top Hemofarm won 82-76 over Slovan.
Široki thumped Vojvodina 83-73 and Cibona beat Zagreb 89-85.
