BELGRADE (Adriatic League) - Defending champions Partizan Belgrade no longer have big man Nikola Pekovic following his move to Panathinaikos, but Duško Vujoševic's team still has a plenty of quality for the Adriatic League.
That was apparent on Saturday, the opening day of this season's competition, when Serbia international Milenko Tepic scored 20 points in Partizan’s 74-67 triumph over Krka.
Partizan's bitter Belgrade rivals Red Star, who are now coached by Yugoslavia's 2002 FIBA World Championship winning coach Svetislav Pesic, also got off to a winning start, prevailing at FMP 84-78 with Marko Kešelj scoring 18.
In other games, Bosna went on the road and won at Helios, 79-74. Hemofarm prevailed over Cibona 86-76 and Zadar won at home over Split 81-67.
KK Zagreb suffered a 90-81 home setback to Vojvodina and Buducnost defeated Union Olimpija 82-73.
