Zadar scraped a 95-91 triumph in overtime to claim the opener, only for FMP to win 99-94 in Game Two on Thursday night.
FMP, battling to stay alive it the series, took an 85-83 advantage near the end of regulation when Mladen Jeremic split a pair of free throws.
Corey Brewer went to the other end and made a lay-up to force overtime.
A Rok Stipcevic three-ball put Zadar into a 90-87 lead nearly two minutes into the extra period, only for a Filip Covic lay-up, two Dragan Labovic free throws and another basket down low from Covic to put the home side ahead at 93-90.
They held the lead for the remainder of the contest. Stipevic had a game-high 31 points in defeat.
Game Three will be played at Zadar on Saturday.
The other tie that is going to a third game pits Hemofarm against Buducnost.
Hemofarm were convincing 87-71 winners in the opener while Podgorica side Buducnost hit back for a 64-55 Game Two victory on Thursday.
Nemanja Gordic scored 15 points to pace Buducnost in their triumph.
Red Star lead Union Olimpija 1-0 after winning at the Pionir, 93-87. Game Two in that showdown is on Saturday in Ljubljana.
