ZAGREB (Adriatic League) - Cibona Zagreb’s Marko Tomas believes the club must win this weekend’s Adriatic League Final Four to call the season a success.

A club that had some big wins in the Euroleague before being eliminated, Cibona beat Partizan Belgrade to first place in the regular season of the Adriatic League but now must win two games to lay its hands on the title.

"If we do not take the trophy this season, it will not be considered successful because, despite all the respect for the national championship, the NLB liga (Adriatic League) is something valuable and important."

Cibona will go up against Union Olimpija in their semi-final on Friday.

There has been intense media interest in the Final Four in Zagreb.

The coach of Cibona, former Tau Ceramica boss Velimir Perasovic, said: "It feels like basketball is back in Zagreb.

"We all have to work hard to succeed in this tournament in order to create a brighter future for this sport in Croatia."

Partizan face Hemofarm Vrsac in Friday's other game.

"In the semi-finals awaits the team that is good, wholesome, and whose club has in recent years has become an important center of basketball," Partizan coach Dusko Vujosevic said.

"Otherwise, I think that we are stronger, but we need to prove this on the court."
