THE TEAMS
Last year's silver medalists Brazil (women) shocked the competition and made it all the way from the Qualifying Draw to an undefeated run in Pool B. Not impressed yet? They defeated Guatemala 22-6 and went on to beat the Crelan FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2022 silver medalists and Women's Series winners Canada 21-7.
Vitoria Marcelino and Sassa combined for 31 points.
Last year's winners USA men also had a clean sweep on Day 1. They beat Guatemala first (22-6) and then, in one of the most anticipated games of the pool phase, defeated Brazil 19-15 thanks to Kareem Maddox' double-five of 5 points and 5 rebounds, while Jimmer Fredette and Canyon Barry combined for 14 points.
Also undefeated today: Canada (men) and Dominican Republic (women)
THE PLAYER
Welcome to the "Jimmermania". USA's latest addition made an immediate impact as he started his 3x3 AmeriCup campaign with 6 points against Guatemala and then added 7 against Brazil, including a 2-point dagger when the reigning champs needed it the most.
