Cote d'Ivoire's men and Mali's women win FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2018

LOME (FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2018) - Cote d'Ivoire's men and Mali's women struck gold in the 2nd edition of the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup in Lomé, Togo on November 9-11, 2018.

2017 runner-ups Cote d'Ivoire dominated the men's competition with a perfect 5-0 record, including a one-sided 14-6 affair in the final against Uganda.  Their go-to-guy Cheick Traore had already made the Team of the Tournament last year. He was named MVP of the competition this season.

Uganda's Tony Drileba and men's top scorer Abdul Yahaya (Nigeria) - who guided Nigeria to bronze -  joined Traore in the men's Team of the Tournament.

In the women's category, Mali went back to back after defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final (19-13).  At just 21 years of age, their top scorer Djeneba Ndiaye (Mali) was named MVP of the tournament.

She was joined in the team of the tournament by Ginette Mfutila  (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Elise Afetse, who led hosts Togo to the bronze medal. 

In the shoot-out contest, N'Faly Kanoute added a second gold medal for Mali. Two women took home the other 2 medals: Sarah Ageno won silver for Uganda and Rana Abdelfattah struck bronze for Egypt.

FIBA Vice-President and FIBA Africa President Hamane Niang attended the games in Lomé.
