ISTANBUL (FIBA 3x3 World Tour) – Over the weekend of 1-2 September, the city of Istanbul will welcome 15 of the best teams from Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa for the fourth stop of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.
With seven of the 12 berths for the Miami Final (22-23 September) already allotted, the two-day tournament in Turkey’s largest city will provide two further places, with the last remaining ones filled by the upcoming Madrid stop (7-8 September, two places) and the single wildcard.
The 15 teams are divided into three groups of five teams each (click here to see the composition of the groups), playing in a round-robin first round against their four respective group opponents. The top two placed teams of each group access directly to the bracket phase (starting at the Quarter-Finals stage) as well as the two best teams placed third, among all three groups.
Two players are set to play back-to-back FIBA 3x3 events, with Bucharest’s Angel Santana having represented Romania and Kharkov’s Tymur Arabadzhy having represented Ukraine (and won a bronze medal) at last weekend’s FIBA 3x3 World Championship in Athens, Greece.
A tournament victory for the Kharkov team would give Arabadzhy the number one spot in the 3x3planet world ranking.
The tournament will take place at Caddebostan Pendik Sahilyolu, Istanbul 34860 with games beginning on Saturday at 12:00 local time (CET +1) and lasting until approximately 17:00.
Finals day will take place on Sunday, with games also beginning at 12:00. The Final will be held at 16:30.
