AUCKLAND (3x3) - After leading team New Zealand in the 3x3 Youth World Championship, Isaac Fotu is becoming a basketball sensation in his home country and overseas.

Everything started this summer when the 17 year old was selected to play for the Tall Blacks in August. He became one of the youngest players ever to do so for the New Zealand team.

He was with the squad as they won the Boris Stankovic Cup in China and played a key role in their 3x3 Youth World Championship run in Italy, this past September.

Probably his most memorable moment with the Tall Blacks came in the 3x3 Youth World Championship finals game versus Bulgaria.

With seven seconds to go, New Zealand went to Fotu and he did not disappoint, driving down the right side of the basket and scoring inside for the final score.

They ended-up succeeding 19-18 thanks to Fotu's decisive game winning basket.

A couple of weeks ago he even made his debut for the New Zealand Breakers, who compete in the NBL.

It hasn't always been easy for him but he put in the hours every day and soon people started noticing his passion for the game of basketball.

"I just started to believe in myself and realised what I could do.", said Fotu.

His commitment to the University of Hawaii next year; marks an immense step in his transformation as a player.

Fotu is showing no sign of slowing down and we're every bit as excited to see how his promising young career unfolds.
