    TRIPOLI (Afrobasket 2009) - Montepaschi Siena basketball club of Italy guard, Romain Sato Friday led his team, Central Africa Republic into the next stage of the 2009 FIBA Africa Championship for Men going on in Libya.

    After losing its first two group-C games to Cameroon and Senegal the Central Africa Republican rose to the occasion to edged out Peoples Republic of Congo by a whopping 113-61 points a win which is enough to see them through to next stage of the championship with Sato pouring in 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and one block-shot.

    The 28-year-old 6 feet 5 inch guard was joined by the quatet of Regis Koundjia-Sindo, William Kossangue-Toro, Lionel Bamayoko and Maiant Mombollet on the scorer chat with 17, 16, 11 and 10 points respectively.

    Congo’s Jean Kounba, Bertrand Boukinda Dibessa, Herve Assoua-Wande and Romaric Kondzy scoring of 19, 14, 12 and 10 points for their side were not good enough to save them from being shown the exit door.

    They will settle for the classification of positions 13-16 place of the championship.
