    Central Africa Republic Thursday handed down an 89-61 points defeat to Rwanda in a group-D preliminary round of the 26th FIBA Africa Championship for Men in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

    The Central African side who was without Roman Sato won the first three quarters by 26-11, 26-20 and 21-14 points but shared the last quarter by 16 points apiece with Rwanda controlled the game from the jump-ball to the buzzer thus opening a group leadership race with Tunisia who earlier in the day defeated Togo by 103-56 points.

    Central Africa James Mays led the floor with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assist, Regis Koundia recorded 13 points and 5 rebounds while the duo of Lionel Bomayako and Max Martial Kounguere added 12 points and 10 points 5 rebounds and 2 steals for their side victory.
