Trieste and Tenerife set for another flight

    The last week of action in the BCL Round of 16 begins with Groups K and L.

    MIES (Switzerland) - Group K featured two Spanish contenders who quickly got the job done, obtaining the pass for the Quarter-Finals in the Basketball Champions League, powered by Ameresco SUNEL.

    In Group L, instead, things are yet to be decided: who will join La Laguna Tenerife as one of the best eight teams in Season X? We will find out on Tuesday night. In the meantime, enjoy our 24 must-know facts.

    Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets vs. Elan Chalon - Group K, 20:00 CET

    • Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets have only won one of their last nine games in the BCL Round of 16, but that happened in their most recent home game, 80-71 against Unicaja. Their five home games played at that stage all ended with a single-digit margin.

    • Elan Chalon have lost their two road games in this Round of 16 after winning their previous four road games in the BCL this season. Historically, the French teams have always lost in their three trips to Germany in the Round of 16.

    • Chalon have made 25+ assists in four games in the BCL this season, including in two of their last three road games; only ALBA Berlin (5) have done it in more games. Meanwhile, Wurzburg are one of the four sides among the 16 still in competition yet to make 25+ assists in a game this season.

    • Marcus Carr (Wurzburg) had 15+ points and 5+ assists in nine BCL games in 2025-26, including 22 points and 5 assists in the reverse fixture against Chalon: only two players have done it in more games during a single season (Jordan Theodore, 13 in 2016-17 & Joe Ragland, 11 in 2023-24).

    • Jeremiah Hill (Chalon) has scored 20+ points in each of his last two BCL games, as often as in his first 11 appearances. He was Chalon’s top scorer in each of their last three games and in two of their three games against German opposition in the BCL this season.

    • Marcus Carr had 26 points and 8 assists, but couldn't avoid Wurzburg's 87-81 home loss to Telekom Baskets Bonn; Chalon had a majestic 109-56 victory over Limoges, propelled by Nate Darling's 24 points over 4-of-5 from deep.

    Unicaja vs. Asisa Joventut - Group K, 20:00 CET

    • Unicaja have won their last 19 home games in the BCL, but they have lost two of the previous three times they hosted a fellow Spanish team. They have scored 90+ points in each of their last 11 home games in the competition (100.9 per game on average).

    • Asisa Joventut have won 10 of their 11 BCL games, but their sole defeat came in their most recent road game, 77-85 at Chalon. They have won the first quarter in each of their 11 games in the competition.

    • Unicaja (21.1) and Joventut (20.9) are averaging the most assists per 100 possessions among all teams in the BCL season. They also have the best assists per turnover ratio this season (Unicaja 1.93, Joventut 1.91).

    • Nihad Dedovic (Unicaja) has scored 15+ points in three of his five games in the Round of 16 this season, after never reaching that mark in any of his first 41 BCL games. However, he scored no points in the reverse fixture against Joventut, the only time he failed to score in a BCL game with 10+ minutes played.

    • Ante Tomic (Joventut) had 19 points in his last BCL game, against Wurzburg, his first game with 15+ points in 11 appearances in the competition; he became the 4th player aged 39 years old or older to score more than 15 points in a game in the competition, after Tremmell Darden, Marcelinho Huertas, and Aaron Doornekamp.

    • Led by Kendrick Perry's 22 points and 6 assists, Unicaja beat Zaragoza 112-89; Ricky Rubio and Cameron Hunt each scored 17 points to lead Joventut to the 84-72 victory against Barcelona.

    Pallacanestro Trieste vs. La Laguna Tenerife - Group L, 20:30 CET

    • Pallacanestro Trieste have lost their last four games in the BCL, their longest losing streak in the competition. They have lost five of their six home games, suffering their heaviest BCL defeat in the most recent one, which was against a Spanish team (70-94 vs. Dreamland Gran Canaria).

    • La Laguna Tenerife have won 10 of their last 11 games in the BCL Round of 16, but three of their last four games in that round ended with a single-possession margin. They have won seven of their eight trips to Italy in the BCL.

    • Tenerife (39.6%) and Trieste (36.7%) have the highest share of their total points coming from three‑pointers in the BCL this season. Trieste made 15 three-pointers in the reverse fixture, their second-highest total in a BCL game.

    • Mady Sissoko (Trieste) has recorded four double-doubles in the BCL this season, the second-best total behind Brady Skeens (5). He has averaged 15.5 points and 10.2 rebounds in his last six BCL games played as a starter.

    • Marcelinho Huertas (Tenerife) had 28 points and 5 assists last week against Gran Canaria, his 10th BCL game with 20+ points and 5+ assists, the joint-most of any player, alongside David Holston. Three of the last four times he did that were against teams from Italy. Moreover, Tim Abromaitis now needs only one point to become the 5th player with 1000 points in the BCL.

    • Trieste came back strongly in the Italian league, beating Trento 84-78 at home; Tenerife won as well in Spain, getting the huge 89-71 win over Valencia.

    Dreamland Gran Canaria vs. ERA Nymburk - Group L, 20:30 CET

    • Gran Canaria lost their last game (76-79 vs. Tenerife) but are yet to lose consecutive games in the BCL; three of their last four games ended with a single-possession margin.

    • ERA Nymburk have won four of their six road games in Spain in the BCL, but the two defeats in that span came in the Round of 16 (71-90 against Zaragoza in April 2021 & 80-104 against Tenerife this year). Three of their five games in this current Round of 16 have seen a win for the team trailing at half-time.

    • Gran Canaria are conceding only 1.02 points per possession in the BCL this season, the best defensive ratio of all teams, while Nymburk have the lowest ratio of points scored per possession among the 16 teams still in the competition (1.06).

    • Nicolas Brussino (Gran Canaria) had 13 points and 10 rebounds last week against Tenerife, his second points-rebounds double-double in the BCL – the first one was against Nymburk in April 2021 when he was playing at Zaragoza, a game where he was close to a triple-double (12pts, 11reb, 9ast).

    • Marcus Santos Silva (Nymburk) is averaging 8.8 rebounds per game in the BCL this season, the best average among the players from the 16 teams still in the competition; he became last week the 5th player with 10+ rebounds and 0 points in a BCL game (0pts, 10reb vs. Trieste), but he also made 3 blocks, all while spending only 9 minutes on the court.

    • Both Gran Canaria and Nymburk didn't get road victories during the weekend, as they respectively lost 87-76 to UCAM Murcia and 105-89 to BK Opava.
