2025 AfroBasket Quarterfinals ties set

    The defining stage of the 2025 AfroBasket gets underway on Wednesday at the Kilamba Arena in Luanda, Angola.

    LUANDA (Angola) - On Tuesday, the last two spots for the 2025 AfroBasket quarterfinals were decided following the conclusion of the classification round for the last eight.

    The eight remaining teams are still in the running to be crowned champions of this year's AfroBasket.

    Cape Verde and Cameroon secured the seventh and eighth spots, respectively.

    In a rematch of the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket semifinals, Cape Verde easily defeated Tunisia 87–54.

    In the day's second game, Cameroon overcame a determined DR Congo team, winning 77-68. This victory marks Cameroon's return to the AfroBasket Quarterfinals for the first time since 2017, when they finished fifth. Cameroon finished last (0–3) in the 2021 tournament in Kigali, Rwanda.

    Following their success in the 2025 Classification Round, Mali, Senegal, Cape Verde, and Cameroon joined Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, and Nigeria, who each finished their group campaigns with perfect 3–0 records.

    Libya, Madagascar, Rwanda, and Uganda were all eliminated in the group phase.

    The first two quarterfinals matchups are on Wednesday with Côte d'Ivoire facing play Mali at 4 p.m. local time (GMT+1). Three hours later, Nigeria will square off against Senegal at 19:00 local time (GMT+1).

    On Thursday, the second two quarterfinals will see taking Egypt on Cameroon while and Angola will take on Cape Verde.

    The two semifinals will take place on Saturday, and the tournament will conclude on Sunday, August 24.
