PIRAEUS (Greece) - With first position in Group A already assured alongside their Quarter-Finals berth, France could have been forgiven for taking their foot off the gas.
However there was no let up when they ripped past Switzerland with a dominant display that also showcased their title aspirations by entering the history books with the 14th highest victory margin in the competition's history.
France dismantled Switzerland 111-37 in their last group phase game and the 74-point success was the highest winning margin recorded at the event since 1976 when USSR beat Belgium by a 79-point difference (127-48).
It also surpassed the the previous biggest differential of the 21st century, which was 48 points by Belgium against Israel in 2023 (106-58).
The victory also meant another perfect group phase for France - an incredible feat of consistency. They were on top from tip to buzzer, with Janelle Salaun and Valeriane Ayayi scoring 23 and 19 points respectively.
