SHENZHEN (China) – The FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 Division B reached its exciting conclusion on Sunday at the Shenzhen Sports Centre, with Chinese Taipei prevailing in the Final and achieving promotion.
Chinese Taipei return to Division A after trouncing Iran
The Division B Final lived up to its billing as a high-stakes battle for promotion. Chinese Taipei and Iran exchanged momentum throughout the entire first quarter, with neither side allowing comfortable separation. Iran led after the first 10 minutes, 18-17, but coach Chiu Chi-Yi's squad found their rhythm thereafter.
Building on their fluid offense and disciplined defensive rotations, Chinese Taipei gradually wore down Iran’s resistance, pulling ahead decisively in the third quarter en route to an impressive 74-55 win.
Chen Wei-An led the victors with a stellar 18 points and 7 rebounds, supported by Huang Ling-Chuan's steady 17 points on the back of 5 three-pointers. Iran fought as hard as they could, anchored by Mahla Abedi's 23-point, 15-rebound double-double performance, but they fell short in the Division B Final for the second edition in a row.
This triumph marks Chinese Taipei’s return to Division A and caps their memorable campaign for redemption.
Thailand get back at Mongolia to secure bronze
In a tense rematch, Thailand survived Mongolia, 78-73, to avenge an earlier loss and prevail in a fiercely competitive third-place game.
Thailand's early shooting spree and smart ball control in key moments helped them erect a 15-point cushion enterging the fourth quarter. Mongolia rallied late, fueled by their trademark aggressive penetration, but the Thais remained composed down the stretch to seal their Division B podium finish.
Rattiyakorn Udomsuk once again spearheaded Thailand's effort with a determined 23 points, while Mongolia’s Khulan Onolbaatar scored 28 to lead her squad.
