Germany improved to 2-0 in Group C thanks to a 98-88 triumph over Slovenia with Fabien Kayser playing the starring role. The shooting guard sensation filled the stat sheet with 25 points, including five triples, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in just 26 minutes.
It was a tough day at the office for Bulgaria as they dropped to a 90-69 defeat to Lithuania, but one man who provided a spark for the Bulgarians was Martin Popov, who went 5-for-8 from three-point land for his 29 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Aviv Arinov continued where he left off on the opening day by recording back-to-back 30-point games. His latest effort came in the 91-77 victory over France, where he had a game-high 31 points, along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists, as the Israelis improved to 2-0 in Group D.
Despite the loss to Germany, Slovenia’s Igor Stjepanovic played valiantly, as he had 26 points on 12-for-17 shooting, 3 assists and 3 steals, but it wasn’t enough to prevent its first defeat of the championships.
Overtime was needed to settle an enthralling contest between Denmark and Slovakia, with Bruno Randuska being the difference between the two teams. The Slovakian point guard hit an impressive 36 points, with five three-pointers included in that haul, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block in an 87-82 win.
