    Competition System

    The FIBA U16 women’s AfroBasket is the flagship competition for women's national youth teams.

    This year, Rwanda will host the FIBA U16 women’s AfroBasket from 2 to 14 September 2025 with 12 national teams.

    Mali won the FIBA U16 Women's African Championship 2023.

    GROUP PHASE

    The 11 teams will be divided in 02 groups of 4 teams each + 01 group of 3 teams.

    Each team will play all the other teams in its group. After the groups phases, a classification will be made as follows:

    • Teams placed first in each group, according to wins and point differential will be ranked from 1st to 3rd place.

    • Teams placed second in each group, according to wins and point differential will be ranked from 4th to 6th place.

    • The best 2 third-place teams from all the groups will then be ranked from 7th to 8th place still following the point differential order.

    FINAL PHASE

    Quarter-finals

    The 08 teams placed first will play the quarter finals.

    The Quarter-Finals shall be played as follows:

    • Team placed 1st - Team placed 8th

    • Team placed 2nd – Team placed 7th

    • Team placed 3rd – Team placed 6th

    • Team placed 4th – Team placed 5th

    Classification 9 – 11 place

    The 03 remaining teams will play the classification games (9 – 11 place) in one round.

    Semi-finals

    The 04 winners teams of the ¼ finales will play the semifinals

    Classification 5 – 12 place

    The 04 loser teams will play the classification games (5 – 8 place) in one round.

    Third-place Game & Final

    • The 02 loser teams will play classification games (3 – 4 place).

    • The 02 winners teams of the ½ finals will play the final

    The two best teams will qualify for the 2026 FIBA U17 World Cup.
