Latvia trailed in the first half of their opening game against Italy before turning the game around with a 30-13 third quarter in an 82-70 win. Benjamin Berrouet showed why he was so highly rated coming into the event as he totalled 25 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 block.
Georgia had a poor start to their third straight summer in Division A as they lost 97-75 to Israel. Tsotne Dgebuadze had a big game in the defeat with 26 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals.
Türkiye opened their tournament with a convincing performance, beating Czechia 102-74 in Group B. Yigit Mehmet Okur was a force around the paint for the winners with 21 points and 9 rebounds.
Lithuania faced a big test to start the tournament against reigning champs but they survived with flying colors by winning 95-79 in Group A. Danielius Jasikevicius was a major factor with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists.
Romania did not have a good start to the tournament as they were beaten 105-62 by Poland. Sebastian-Petru Lapuste was one of the few effective weapons for the Romanians with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals.
