    Record breaker Baysal sets a new high mark in assists per game

    The Turkish guard dished out 8.6 assists per game to lead the way in Oradea.

    ORADEA (Romania) - Kuzey Baysal set a new FIBA U16 EuroBasket record with the highest average number of assists in a single tournament.

    The Turkish guard finished with a total of 60 assists at an average of 8.6 per game - becoming the first player in the competition's history with at least 8.0 assists per outing, since the data was recorded from 1995.

    Meanwhile, Danielius Jasikevicius also put his name among the best assist-makers at the event with his 7.3 dimes per game the most by any Lithuanian player - and into the top three.

    Baysal closed the tournament with 13 assists, in a defeat to Serbia, which tied for the second most in a single game in the competition.

    He also dished out 10 assists in a victory over Georgia to help Türkiye's retain their Division A status for another summer.

    Romania's Sebastian-Petru Lapuste just missed out on a spot in the top five after putting up 6.9 assists per game, but did move into second spot in the steals charts with 5.0 per game.
