    2025 U16 AfroBasket - Quarter-Finals Pairings and Times Set

    Press Release

The 2025 FIBA U16 AfroBasket has reached a defining stage, with all the teams that will compete in the quarter-finals being decided on the last day of the group stage, Wednesday 10 September.

KIGALI (Rwanda) - Even though they didn't take to the court on Wednesday, hosts Rwanda and neighbouring Uganda secured the last two spots in the Last Eight of the tournament.

The two East African teams had to wait for the outcome of the Liberia vs. Morocco game to find out what would happen next in the tournament.

Liberia's 74–69 win over Morocco meant that they finished with a 1–2 record and a -20 point differential in Group A.

This was not enough to surpass Uganda and Rwanda, who had a similar win–loss record but a higher point differential of +6 and -18, respectively.

Rwanda and Uganda joined the three group winners, Côte d'Ivoire (Group A), Cameroon (Group B) and Mali (Group C), all of whom finished with a record of 3–0.

Angola, Egypt and Tunisia also qualified for the quarter-finals, having all finished second in their groups with 2 wins and 1 loss.

Meanwhile, Liberia (1–2), Sierra Leone (0–3), Guinea (0–3) and Morocco (0–3) were all eliminated from contention for a place in the quarter-finals.

All four quarter-final games are scheduled to take place on Friday September 12, at the Petit Stade Gymnasium in Kigali, Rwanda.

The first matchup features Cameroon vs. Uganda at 10:00 GMT.

Angola and Egypt will compete in the second quarter-final at 12:30 GMT.

Mali and Tunisia will compete at 15:00 GMT, and Côte d'Ivoire will play Rwanda at 17:30 GMT in a Group A rematch.

The two semi-finals will take place on Saturday 13 September, with the tournament concluding on Sunday 14 September.
