ZARATE (Argentina) – Melisa Gretter was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2027 South American Qualifiers after leading Argentina to the title at Espacio DAM in Zarate.
The veteran point guard was the driving force behind Argentina throughout the competition. She averaged 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 7.6 assists (the best mark in the tournament), 2.4 steals and a 17.0 efficiency rating.
She raised her level even further in the decisive moments, recording 20 points and 9 assists in the Semi-final against Brazil before closing out the championship with a brilliant performance of 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in the Final against Venezuela.

Manuela Rios - Colombia
Rios once again confirmed her importance as the driving force of her national team. She finished the tournament averaging 10.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists (second-best in the competition), 2.2 steals and a 12.8 efficiency rating. Her best performance came in the Semi-finals, where she recorded 21 points.
Daniela Wallen - Venezuela
Wallen was the standout player for her team on the way to the silver medal. The forward led the tournament in both scoring (19.7 points per game) and efficiency (28.0), while also finishing second in rebounds with 9.3 per game. She also contributed 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game, establishing herself as Venezuela’s primary offensive threat.
Aaliyah Guyton - Brazil
She earned her place thanks to her consistency throughout the competition. The point guard averaged 14.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 steals and a 14.8 efficiency rating. In the final stretch of the tournament, she took on a leading role by scoring 18 points in both the Semi-final and the bronze-medal game, which Brazil went on to win.
Florencia Chagas - Argentina
The shooting guard averaged 11.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.4 steals and a 9.6 efficiency rating. In the Semi-final against Brazil, she was decisive with 17 points, playing a key role in Argentina’s advance to the Final and, subsequently, its South American title.
